Summer Homework 2017

Summer Homework

Parents & Students:

The Magnet Program, in its continued commitment to offer the richest possible range of materials of literacy, has designed a summer reading program for students in the Magnet Program. Our primary goal is to develop a lifelong desire to read for both pleasure and knowledge acquisition. The program is designed to encourage students to continue the reading habit throughout the summer months. This extended reading opportunity will sustain reading achievement and expand reading interest.

Every student in the Magnet Program will be required to read an assigned grade level book and complete the attached writing activities prior to entering class in August.

In order to check students reading comprehension, students will be given a multiple choice assessment the first week of school. The assessment and the completed writing activities will be reflected on the first 5-week marking period.

As parents, we hope you will encourage your child to read over the summer months and monitor the writing assignments, which are due on the first day of school. We hope that you will join us in this important effort and assist your child in becoming a Summer Reading Achiever.

We thank you in advance for your support and look forward to an enriching and rewarding experience for your child.

Please feel free to email Ms. A. Gomez at agomez11@lausd.net or the grade level academic teacher if you have any questions or concern.

Enjoy your summer break!

Padres y Estudiantes:
