Letter to the Family

Dear Family,

Welcome to Ms. Gamboa's 7th Grade Mathematics Class!  I look forward to a successful year with your child.  To prepare our students for future challenges in math, we have chosen a curriculum that includes an active approach to learning problem-solving skills.

Our textbook, published by Mc Graw Hill, is a student-centered program.  Its style leads students to discovery of mathematical ideas, they communicate what they've learned, and apply what they know.  It asks them to solve problems individually and in teams.    It focuses on real-life situations to help students appreciate the power of mathematics in their daily lives.

Our goal is to build a partnership with family and community members.  Together, we can create a learning environment that really helps our students.  Throughout this school year, you will be invited in school events such as open house and parent conferences.

If you have questions about your student's activities in math class, please free to contact me through Remind.com or LAUSD email (wgamboa@lausd.net).  If you need to set a meeting with me regarding your child's academic performance, call the main office or use your child's agenda and leave me a message.  In your message, let me know the best time to return your call or to meet you.

I look forward to working with you to bring about a rewarding, successful school year.

Sincerely,

Ms.  Gamboa
